Corus Bankshares, Inc. was incorporated in Minnesota in 1958 and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Corus' former, wholly-owned banking subsidiary, Corus Bank, N.A. was placed into receivership by the OCC on September 11, 2009. Corus Bankshares' stock is traded on the over-the-counter "pink sheets" under the symbol "CORSQ.PK".
On June 15, 2010, Corus Bankshares, Inc. filed its bankruptcy petition under Chaper 11. The debtor's Plan of Reorganization was confirmed on September 27, 2011. On the subsequent effective date, October 27, 2011, Corus Bankshares, Inc. emerged from bankruptcy and a newly reorganized company, Corus Financial Corporation, was formed.
